Our Projects
Love the Babies
A baby shower in a bag. Each hamper is lovingly packed with knitted items, baby clothes, blankets, nappies, wipes, and toiletries. We personally hand these to new moms in state hospitals, often their very first gift for their newborn. What began with pre-loved baby goods has grown into thousands of “Love the Babies” bags, bringing dignity, hope, and relief to mothers in need.

Gogo Bags
Grannies are the unsung heroes of their communities — many raise orphaned grandchildren on nothing but a small state pension. Our “Gogo Bags” are filled with food staples (maize, rice, beans, tea, sugar, canned fish, soya mince), as well as blankets, linen, and clothes. We distribute +150 bags at a time, directly into the hands of Gogos and Umkhulus. Each bag means a family won’t go to bed hungry.
Child-Headed Households & HOPE Breakfasts
For children who have lost parents and are left caring for siblings, we bring a moment of joy and relief.
Child-Headed Households: A special day of shopping for uniforms, toiletries, and essentials — ensuring dignity and hope.
HOPE Breakfasts: Children are treated to a fun breakfast party, and each one leaves with food hampers, a gift pack, stationary, school shoes, and clothing to take home.
These projects provide care and comfort to the most vulnerable: children, who are forced to grow up too soon.
Bless a Granny & Grandpa
Every year, more than 2,500 elderly residents in state homes receive the Christmas cheer from which they thought they’d been forgotten. Our “Bless a Granny & Grandpa” project matches each elder’s personal wish list with a donor, who makes it come true. From October to December, we visit 20+ homes, bringing gifts, cakes, singing, dancing, and festivities. It’s our most loved project — a season filled with laughter, tears of joy, and human connection.
Mahala Markets
These are joyful, bustling mornings where dignity is restored. 250+ Gogos and Umkhulus are invited to “shop” for free at a market of donated clothing, shoes, toys, and household goods. Each guest leaves with items for their families plus a food parcel. It’s a beautiful way of giving choice back to people who so often go without.
Sarmie Army
Every second Wednesday, volunteers gather at Stokers Arms in Kloof to make up to 3,150 peanut butter sandwiches. These are delivered to schools and crèches where, for many children, it may be their only meal of the day. The Sarmie Army is one of our most fun and social projects — a chance to catch up, laugh, and serve, while doing something simple and meaningful together.
Celebration of Life Party
This is a day of pure joy for underprivileged children with disabilities. We bring jumping castles, face painting, rides, party food, gift bags, and music — sparing no effort to create an unforgettable carnival. Each child also receives a food parcel to take home, and educators are gifted, too. It’s more than a party — it’s a celebration of dignity, love, and the beauty of every child.
Love of Maths
This programme turns fear into confidence. Working in small groups with dedicated volunteers, children rediscover a love of learning maths. The impact is visible in their results and self-belief. For these children, this project unlocks a brighter academic future.
Crèche Builds
From makeshift structures to thriving centres of learning — we’ve built four fully equipped crèches in rural KZN. Each one has safe classrooms, sanitation, electricity, furniture, books, toys, and play areas. Beyond early childhood education, these crèches empower women in the community to run sustainable businesses, while providing children with a safe, nurturing start to life.
Animal Care
Compassion isn’t only for people — we also support accredited animal shelters. Our involvement includes food donations, anti-cruelty initiatives, and sterilisation drives to prevent thousands of unwanted litters. By reducing neglect, hunger, and abuse, we help protect vulnerable animals in struggling communities
