Gogo’s High Tea 25 March 2017
Gogos (isiZulu) grandmothers/elderly women. At the Robin Hood Foundation, we have such respect for the Gogo’s in our communities. These women are the matriarch’s in their community, women of strength, great faith and courage. Women that serve their families and communities and ask for nothing in return. Today, we hosted 30 of these Gogo’s – as highlighted to us by the Christian Social Services – at an elegant High Tea hosted by the Pot and Kettle in Botha’s Hill. The aim of the morning was to honour and salute these Gogo’s – recognise them for all they do for their families and in their communities and bless them abundantly! What an incredible and joyous morning – with much singing, laughter and delicious treats for their tea! Our amazing team of volunteers helped the Gogo’s to the taxi’s we had commandeered for them with arms FULL of blessings – a gift box filled with luxurious treats and toiletries generously sponsored by The Dis-chem Foundation, fruit generously donated by Curves Hillcrest; Hot Cross buns, towel set, blankets, a big hamper from Chempack filled with household cleaning products and the HUGE and heavy Gogo Bag, weighing nearly 25kgs, filled with a month’s supply of FutureLife generously donated by the FutureLife Foundation, clothing and nonperishable foods to take home to help feed their grandchildren and orphaned children in their care. It is a privilege to be able to serve these Gogo’s this morning and show them the love and blessings they so deserve. Our most humble thanks to all those that helped pack the hampers for the event; all those who donated goodies to make this event possible and most especially the incredible team of volunteers that joined today and the team at the Pot and Kettle!
