Easter Tea at John Dunn Home sponsored by Dezzo Roofing 11 April 2017

An incredibly special morning with some beautiful old souls at Tafta John Dunn earlier today! Not only did we have a wonderful group of volunteers join us to bless and interact with the residents at John Dunn for the Easter Tea we had arranged today at the Home as part of our ‘Love to Read’ campaign, but we also had the pleasure of some of the Dezzo Team join us, to unveil the beautiful mural they designed and donated to brighten the dining hall for the all the residents!

After visiting the Home with us at Christmas time, owner Brandon was so taken by the residents and staff and came to us with an ‘idea’ to brighten up their lives – and their dining hall – with this spectacular and very life-like mural! Imagine their delight as they now get to ‘watch the waves’ as they gather for meals each day!

A bit of history as to how we were introduced to John Dunn House: Many, many years ago, our Chairlady and Founder, Cindy Norcott, had read an article in the local press of an elderly woman who was living in a container, she called and offered to help her personally.

Finally, the Granny was moved and homed at John Dunn House and Cindy continued to visit her for many years thereafter. The wonderful staff and beautiful residents really hold a soft-spot in Cindy’s heart and as Pro Appointments sponsored one of our ‘Love to Read’ bookcases, Cindy chose to donate their bookcase to the Home and presented them with the bookcase this morning, standing beautifully in their lounge / waiting area, stocked up with some super books and magazines donated by our incredible community!

On top of ALL this excitement, tea was served with an abundant assortment of delicious cakes, treats and snacks each AND Granny and Grandpa was also blessed with a mug filled with marshmallow eggs – thanks to the generous staff and scholars at HCA – they also each got some tasty biscuits to take back to their rooms with them and the RHF team took in some beautiful embroidered shirts for each granny and Grandpa as well as some much-needed adult nappies and other toiletries and supplies. Grateful thanks to Dezzo Roofing, Pro Appointments, Dis-Chem, NBL and all the amazing community hearts for your generous support in blessing these elderly folk today as well again, our incredible team of volunteers for your love and time!
