Christmas 4 Kids carnival at Golden Gateway School 30.11.17

The last couple of months of the year are filled with beautiful Bless-a-Granny & Grandpa visits to spread love and cheer to our elderly but we each year, we also have to remember that Christmas is for Kids and again this year want to bless some of the very special children in our community. What started as a once-off back in 2013 has now become an annual event – the highlight of the year for the 200 special needs children at Golden Gateway – something they talk about and look forward to all year! The children’s shrieks of excitement and joy lit up the hearts of all our volunteers as they walked down to the field where we’d set up the biggest and best carnival to date – rocking music, candyfloss, popcorn, rides, soccer games , train rides, face-painting, balloon sculpting – you name it, we had it – AND hot, fresh, delicious pizza much to the delight of the children generously sponsored and served by The Debonairs Team! What an INCREDIBLE day! A big shout out to Araujo Attorneys and celebrity DJ and entertainer Lloyd Paul – who’ve partnered on this event with us for the past 3 years, their love and passion for the children in our community is overwhelming! THANK YOU to all who gave so freely of their time to share today with the children – as well as the volunteers who braved the heat this week to pack all the goodie bags with love and care! And a very grateful thank you to each and every person that ‘sponsored a smile’, and gave or anonymously dropped off and donated toys, sweets, stationery and other goodies; SA Greetings for the beautiful gift bags; Womens Property Network for the incredible donation of toys and thousands of Rands worth of stationery for the children; Jennings Foods for the treats for the children; Tunya Schoemann and friends for your incredible collection of ALL the additional stationery items for the goodie bags; The Toy Factory for the AMAZING discount on all the Bafana peaks for the children as well as donation of toys; for the children gift bags and especially to Araujo Attorneys and Debonairs / Ocean Trust for your incredible support – without whom, today would not have been possible! Spreading love, sharing joy and brightening up the life of a Special Needs child – what a blessing to have this privilege, thanks to the beautiful community we live in that gives back so generously!
