Bless-a-Granny & Grandpa visits Langlar Towers 19.12.17

The closer to Christmas we get, the more special these Bless-a-Granny & Grandpa visits become as the Christmas spirit of love and joy replace the everyday routine in the lives of some of our elderly folk. Today we hosted another beautiful morning with the elderly residents – this time at Langlar Towers. Some faces we’ve not seen since they moved over from the old Ray Hulllets building in the past few years. Thanks to some incredible community hearts, giving of their time again today to share some love and serve the elderly, and the help of Rahida and fab staff at Langlar Towers – what a beautiful morning celebrating an early Christmas with over 200 residents. The TAFTA team and awesome team of volunteers set the tables with cakes and treats and Christmas Crackers filled with sweets – generously donated by the Bridgevale Women’s Institute who make and donate THOUSANDS of these crackers to our projects each year – and the residents were welcomed into the hall for our 10am tea with Rene Tshiakanyi providing live entertainment again for the morning! Much to the delight of some of the elderly gents who even got up to sing with Rene! An additional suprise for the elderly hearts – before we kicked off the mornings events the TAFTA team helped us to identify nearly 100 of the Grannies and Grandpas that have celebrated their birthday’s recently and each of them got a BAG filled with groceries thanks to the generous support of The Rotary Club of Westville and the Westville community that supported their 2017 November end drive for the Aged <3 Our most grateful thanks to each and every single person that pledged a gift for this visit and a special thanks to Sandi Kok who rallied her friends and family locally AND in the UK and donated over 40 gifts for this visit!!
